Frequently Asked Questions
What should I wear?
Anything you feel comfortable in! For facials, you’ll simply remove your top so I can work comfortably around your shoulders, neck, and face. If we decide to include reflexology wear loose trousers or leggings so I can access your calves, ankles, and feet. Blankets and soft, beautiful bedding will keep you cosy.
How long does a treatment take?
Treatments are 60, 75, or 90 minutes, even up to 2 hours (by request). First sessions include a detailed consultation so I can understand your skin and body needs before tailoring your therapy. Following your first treatment I’ll create a Skin and Wellbeing Plan to reach your skin and wellbeing goals.
How do I know which treatment is right for me?
For all first-time clients, Your First Visit : Consultation with The Rosehip Ritual will include a consultation so I can understand your health, lifestyle, and goals. Together, we’ll decide on the most suitable approach, and I’ll provide you with a personalised plan to support your long-term wellbeing.
Can I just have a facial?
Of course. Your treatment will always be shaped around what you want from it, your skin concerns, how you're feeling that day, and how you'd like to leave. Some people come purely for the skin results, and that's exactly what we focus on. The body element is there when it's needed.
How about just a body treatment?
Yes, absolutely. Whether it's tension you're carrying, hormonal symptoms, sleep, or simply needing to properly switch off, body treatments are just as considered and personalised as the facial work. We'll talk through what would help most before we begin..
What will I feel like afterwards?
Most clients feel deeply relaxed, lighter, and radiant. Your skin may appear lifted and glowing, tension will be released, and your nervous system more balanced. Some clients also notice an emotional release or surge of energy. Drinking plenty of water after your session helps flush out any toxins released during your treatment.
How often should I have treatments?
For long-term skin health and wellbeing, I recommend:
Every 4–6 weeks for ongoing facials and body based treatments. To target specific concerns, you can benefit greatly from treatments more often, then moving to maintenance sessions going forward.
Are there any reasons I shouldn’t have a treatment?
Most people can enjoy facials, reflexology, and body therapies safely, but there are some situations where treatments need to be avoided or adapted. Please reschedule if you have severe sunburn, cuts, swelling, infections (such as cold sores), a high fever, or are feeling unwell.
Facials : Wait times after treatments: Roaccutane (3 months), prescription acne creams (1 month), tretinoin (1 week either side), Botox (4–6 weeks), fillers (6–12 weeks), threads (3 months), or during pregnancy before the second trimester. Electrical facials (LED, microcurrent, high frequency) are not suitable if pregnant, breastfeeding, epileptic, or with certain medical conditions (e.g. pacemaker, heart conditions, severe acne). Buccal massage is not suitable with recent dental work, braces, facial swelling.
Reflexology : Not suitable with unhealed wounds, active gout, DVT, broken bones in the feet/legs, high fever or contagious illness, or during pregnancy before the second trimester.
Massage therapies : May be unsuitable if you have uncontrolled high blood pressure, recent surgery, recent heart attack, certain skin conditions, or during pregnancy.
If you’re unsure, please get in touch or consult your doctor for consent before booking. Your safety and wellbeing are always my priority.
What makes Rosehip Rituals unique?
Most facials work on your skin. This one works with everything beneath it too.
Every treatment is completely bespoke, not just in the products used, but in how I read and respond to what your body is holding that day. Some visits we focus more on the face, others we begin with the body because that's where the real work needs to happen first. Reflexology, aromatherapy, acupressure, sculpting facial massage, gua sha, advanced technology are all woven together intuitively, depending on what you need.
The results go deeper because the approach does. Clients often notice things they weren't expecting, things like better sleep, a jaw that's finally unclenched, skin that's consistently clearer rather than temporarily glowing. That's what happens when the skin and body are treated as one connected system rather than separately.
There's also the setting, I work from a private studio in Whitstable, unhurried and quiet, designed to help your body settle from the moment you arrive. That's not incidental. It's part of why the treatments work.
How do face and body therapies work together?
Your skin reflects your overall health. That’s why I blend advanced holistic facials with reflexology, acupressure, aromatherapy, and hormone-balancing massage. This combined approach :
Reduces facial tension, boosts circulation and lymphatic flow, improving sleep, digestion, symptoms of stress and can support hormonal balance, all deeply connected to your skin health. We work to strengthen the skin barrier from within, on a cellular level
How will this help my skin?
Our treatments strengthen your skin barrier, reduce inflammation, release tension, and improve circulation, leaving you lifted, de-puffed, and glowing. Techniques like Gua Sha, buccal facial massage and lymphatic drainage massage help contour your face, smooth fine lines, and boost radiance.
Can I start with just one session?
Absolutely! One-off facials, massages, or reflexology sessions are a wonderful way to relax and restore balance. For new clients, Your First Visit : Consultation with The Rosehip Ritual is the perfect first step towards lasting skin confidence. For body-based therapies, we always begin with a thorough consultation. From there, I’ll provide tailored advice on the best treatment plan for your needs.
Do you teach self-care techniques?
Yes, I love teaching self-care techniques such as self-massage, gua sha, facial cupping, and lymphatic drainage. These practices help you maintain your results at home, calm the nervous system, improve sleep, and support cellular renewal.
Radiance Foundations is an online programme of at home massage to ensuring your treatment benefits last long after you leave the studio. I also run occasional in-person workshops in whitstable and often in collaboration with other wellbeing practitioners.
What products do you use?
All facials are carried out using the award-winning natural skincare range by Marie Reynolds London, renowned skin expert and facialist at Fortnum & Mason. For body treatments, I work with 100% natural oils and create bespoke aromatherapy blends on the day, tailored to how your body and mind are feeling. To extend the benefits beyond your treatment, you can also purchase the skincare, supplements, facial tools, and personalised aromatherapy blends used in your sessions, helping you continue your wellness journey at home.
